Dear Friends of Music,
We’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to the competition of sacred music at the beautiful Kozel chateau in west Bohemia.
The Classicist chateau, coveted for its beautifully decorated interiors and surrounded by an extensive naturally landscaped park, provides in the early autumn, the most colourful time of the year, an amazing backdrop for sacred music performances.
The Plzen region is not only known for its beautiful nature, but also for its cultural background. Bedřich Smetana, for instance, studied here. Jakub Jan Ryba was born here. The quality of the so-called Paris division of the Pilsen Hlalol in the early 20th century had a significant influence on the development of Czech choir singing. Composer Zdeněk Lukáš, loved by many choirs, also stayed here.
And let’s not forget Bohemia Sekt and Pilsner Urquell, traditional brands that have long successfully represented the Czech Republic around the world.
You can see and visit it all as part of the festival, meet with other choruses and musicians, see how you compare with them and assess the year-long work of your choir.
We are looking forward to meeting your choir at the Kozel Chateau.
