The International festival of contemporary chorus music
with Zdeněk Lukáš award

Prague, 19th February - 22nd February 2009

Many excellent choirs participated in the International Festival of Contemporary Chorus Music, Canti veris Praga, that was held in February 2008. This festival, which is a continuation of ten successful years of the International Choral Festival “The Spring Is Starting” and entirely focuses on contemporary chorus production and work of Zdeněk Lukáš, proved to be very beneficial and vital. Regulation of the competition

-only non professional choirs can take part in the competition, although the conductor can be
professional
- choirs may take part in mors than one category
- the time limit of the competition programme is 14-16 mins of the total time, the order of
competition compositions is random

Categories

A: children choirs under 16 years old

B: girls, female and male choirs over 25 singers

C: mixed choirs over 25 singers

D: chamber choirs under 24 singers

The competition programme

1. spiritual composition originated after the year 1950 "a cappella"

2. secular composition originated after the year 1950 "a cappella"

Note:
a) one composition must be from a local composer, the other one from a foreign composer
b) children choirs under 16 years old can perform one of these compositions with instrumental accompaniment

3. Z. Lukáš composition according to own choice in original arrangement of the author
(a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment)

4. composition of domestic author originated after the year 1957 "a cappella"

5. other potential compositions according to own choice originated after
the year 1975 "a cappella" or with accompaniment of 1-2 musical instruments

Zdeněk Lukáš award

goes to the chorus for the best competition interpretation of his composition

Prices

The following price chart offers package price in different accomodation categories:

Package price includes:
- participation fee in festival programme
- three overnights in a hotel of your choice
- three breakfasts in a hotel
- three dinners in a hotel
- guided city tour of Prague
- services of a local quide for all festival programme activities in English or German language
- one free place for every 21 paying participants

Accomodations in twin or three-bedded rooms in 4*hotels and 3*hotels.
Usual solution in 2*hotels is that two twin-bedded rooms or twin and triple rooms share private facilities.

The price does not include:
- transportation (please note that organizers would be happy to arrange transportation to/from festival functions as per your requirements.)
